The Department of Mechanical Engineering came into existence in the year 2009 with an initial intake of 60 students, which was enhanced to 120 in the year 2014. The department is also offering PG programme (Machine Design) with an intake of 18 in the year 2014. The Department has requisite number of faculty members, striving to incorporate excellence in theory, practice and research. The department had spread with laboratory and workshop facilities with modern sophisticated equipment to carry out research in all areas related to Mechanical and Production & Industrial Engineering.
The department is Continuing Education programs and customized training/ workshops are being organized for industry personnel on regular basis. Various Funded Research Projects and Consultancy projects are also taken up. Students of the department are actively involved in various extracurricular activities and extension activities. A group of students are participating in a national competition and won remarkable prizes. The department also permitting students to obtain industrial visit at various sectors.

Department Mission:
To develop the problem solving and analytical skill of the students in the field of Mechanical Engineering. Create, explore and develop innovations in the fields of Design, Thermal and Manufacturing. To motivate the students towards the development of multi-disciplinary skills.

Lab Facility:

ENGINEERING WORKSHOP |
The objective of this lab is to get a hands on knowledge of several Workshop Practices like carpentry, fitting, welding, machining etc and learn safety regulations to be maintained in a shop floor. |

METALLURGY |
This lab provides wide scope to study the micro structural studies of the some important metallic materials based on their phase diagrams of some important metal systems (Fe-C, Cu-Zn, Al-Cu), Hardness measurement, Hardenability of steels using Jominey’s End-Quench test etc. |

MANUFATURING TECHNOLOGY |
This provides a opportunity to study the different welding techniques such as oxy-acetylene welding, spot welding, TIG welding, & arc welding. Plastic Moulding techniques such as blow moulding, injection moulding & sand casting, permeability test, universal strength machine applications & pattern making machine like wood turning lathe are provided. |

MACHINE TOOLS |
This lab is well equipped with Lathe Machine, Milling Machine, Drilling, Shaping, Grinding, Slotting, Radial, Surface Grinding, Tooling end grinding for manufacturing. Here the main intention is to focus on the basic working of machines and working into their application in industries |

STRENGTH OF MATERIALS |
To supplement the theoretical knowledge gained in Mechanics of Solids with practical testing for determining the strength of materials under externally applied loads. This would enable the student to have a clear understanding of the design for strength and stiffness |

FLUID MECHANICS AND MACHINERY |
This lab is well equipped with experiments on different turbines like PELTON WHEEL, FRANCIS TURBINE, RECIPROCATING PUMP, KEPLAN TURBINE etc. The purpose of this laboratory is to reinforce and enhance the fundamentals of hydraulic machines |

THERMAL ENGINEERING |
This lab is extended with Four Stroke Single cylinder Engine, Four Stroke Twin Cylinder Engine, Four Stroke Four Cylinder inline Engine, Refrigeration Test Rig and Air conditioning Test Rig, Multistage Reciprocating Air Compressor, Boiler Cut Models and Valve Timing Diagram Model. Here the main intention is to focus on the basic working of Engines and Performance Evaluation. |

CAD/CAM LAB |
CAD lab is well equipped with Computers with power Regular, Internet Facility. Here the main intention is to focus on the basic Drawing, Part Modeling using Auto cad, CATIA V5 software and CNC machines of milling & CNC Lathe Machine. This laboratory also helps the students in doing their Mini and Major Projects.
CAM lab is well equipped with CNC proto type XL TURN machine To understand the concepts G and M codes and manual part programming. |

METROLOGY |
Metrology lab is well equipped with Micro meter, Venire Calipers, Sine bar, Venire Height Gauge, Bevel Protector, Spirit Level, Internal Micrometer, Dial Bore Gauge for manufacturing. Here the main intention is to focus on the basic working of machines and working into their application in industries. |

Measurements lab provides instruments like temperature gauges like RTD temperature gauge, strain measurement apparatus, LVDT displacement apparatus, angular measurement, flow measuring devices This lab will help the students to calibrate & measure using different gauges. |

This Laboratory is conducted for the students of Mechanical Engineering.
