The Department of Electrical And Electronics Engineering was established in 2006 with approved intake of 60 seats and presently it offers under graduate Programme in Electrical and Electronics Engineering.

Electrical and Electronics Engineering is a continuously evolving subject. As technology has advanced, so have the challenges facing the modern engineer. An IC (Integrated Circuit) containing over 100 million transistors in an area no larger than a postage stamp is yesterdays news.

EEE is a subject that naturally partners with other disciplines to open whole new engineering avenues. Examples include Mechatronics - with Mechanical Engineering, Bio-medical Sciences-with Medicine and Avionics-with Aeronautics. The EEE Department at Sir Vishveshwaraiah Institute Of Science & Technology prepares students in this field using new-age information and computer-intensive technologies. On employability, graduates of the college consistently appear as the first choice of employers. Studying EEE will lead to potential careers in the areas of Research & Development (R&D), design, systems analysis, installation and commissioning, process engineering, control and maintenance, manufacturing, quality assurance and testing, information technology, programming, consultancy, management and software engineering.

The department has made significant growth in terms of infrastructural and academic standards on par with other premier institutions in the state. The Department has a team of highly qualified and experienced faculty members. Apart from their regular academic activities, they involve themselves in various professional activities like publishing their research findings in prestigious conferences and journals, delivering expert lectures, chairing technical sessions at conferences and reviewing of papers of good quality journals.

The department periodically organizes several national and international level conferences, seminars, FDPs and workshops which provide a platform for the staff and students to share their views and experience among industrialists, fellow researchers and academicians in the emerging areas of electrical engineering.

Programme Outcomes:

Describe, architect and analyze power systems that efficiently generate, transmit and distribute electrical power in the context of present Information Control Technology (ICT).

Analyze, design and test the performance of modern electrical machines, drive systems and modern lighting systems to suit the need of industry.

Specify, design, implement and test analog and embedded systems using the state of the art components and software tools.

An ability to design a system, component, or process to meet desired needs within realistic constraints such as economic, environmental, social, political, ethical, health care and safety, manufacturability, and sustainability

Electrical Machines Laboratory Equipped with Techtrack make DC Motor-Generator sets, Techtrach make DC motors, three phase induction motors, induction generator, three phase Alternator-DC Motor set, Synchronous Motor-DC generator sets, universal motor, single phase transformers, 3 phase variacs, single phase variacs, AC & DC distribution board and the auxiliaries required to conduct the experiments.

Power Electronics and Simulation Laboratory Equipped with modules of power semiconductor devices like 1-0 Rectifiers, Dual converter, PWM Inverter, cycloconverter, AC Voltage controllers with unidirectional and bidirectional switches, chopper, Power scopes, RPS, rheostats, Isolation transformers, power semi conductor devices characteristics study unit, Intel make computer systems, MATLAB software.

Control Systems & Simulation LaboratoryEquipped with apparatus, systems installed with MATLAB & PLC software, PLC training kit, Human Machine Interface using PLC Drive, PLC based speed control and fault detection in induction motor, automatic water level control, temperature monitoring, Traffic light control. Oscilloscopes, trainer kits, DC servo motor, compensation network, 1st and 2nd order control system, stepper motor, PID controller and 3kVA stabilizer.

Power Systems and Simulation Laboratory Equipped Numerical Relays and Electromagnetic relays (over current, distance, directional and differential), 3-phase transformer, three phase Alternator-DC Motor Sets, Oil test kits and MATLAB Software.

Electrical circuits Laboratory Equipped with Computer Systems for simulation, Oscilloscopes, Function Generators, air core transformer, Dual channel RPS, single channel RPS, Rheostats, voltmeters and ammeters.

Electrical Measurements Laboratory Equipped with Phantom Load Kit, Single phase energy meters, All DC and AC bridges, RPS, single phase variac, Tong testers, digital, LCR meter, Current Transformer, Power Factor Meter.
